There is great news for lovers of extreme horsepower. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has officially landed in Australia, making it the most powerful SUV available in the world.
Jeep has being selling its flagship Grand Cherokee model in Australia for over twenty years. In this time there have been numerous trim levels, including Laredo, Limited and the SRT. Performance has always been excellent with a variety of engines available including six cylinder petrol, six cylinder diesel and the Hemi V8. The Trackhawk now takes the mantle of top of the line Grand Cherokee model, borrowing the Supercharged 6.2 Litre V8 from the Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
Power generated from the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is prodigious, to say the least. The Trackhawk generates an almost amazing 522 kilowatts of Power, along with 868 Nm of torque. In way of comparison, a Ferrari 488 GTB has 493 kilowatts of power and 760Nm of torque. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk can accelerate from 0-100 kph in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 289 kph. These are phenomenal figures from an all wheel drive, five seat vehicle capable of towing 2,949 kg (braked).
The Trackhawk model is not all about pure performance. Luxury leather trim is available, along with climate control air conditioning and a full suite of safety features. Twenty inch rims also come standard, which will impact off road credentials (although there are other models in the Jeep range more suitable for off roading). An eight speed automatic transmission ensures all this power gets to the road smoothly.
