Prestige car manufacturer Maserati has announced the upcoming release of its brand new offering to the Australian prestige car market, with the 4×4 Levante due for release some time next year. This new release sees the popular Italian car manufacturer make its foray into the SUV market for the very first time, with the Levante set to go head to head with the ever popular range of Mercedes Benz’s ML class and BMW’s X Series offerings. Release in the Australia market has been slated for late 2016.
The Levante is expected to offer a range of three engines shared with the Quattroporte – a 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 petrol, 3.0-litre twin turbo V6 petrol and 3.0 litre twin turbo V6 diesel. It will also use Maserati’s new Q4 all-wheel drive system that has been developed for the Quattroporte and Ghibli sedans.
Maserati Australia is already enjoying a strong start to the year, with the brand’s sales up almost 20 per cent year-to-date, thanks largely due to the unprecedented popularity of the Quattroporte.
